Father-son team Ross and Keith Johnson started Innovative Basement Authority (IBA) in 2005. Keith led the growth of the business and expanded to multiple offices in Minnesota and North Dakota. In 2019, IBA partnered with Groundworks, the nation’s leading and fastest-growing foundation and water management solutions company to invest more into their business and their employees. Great work from the this group. We had our annual inspection to the work they did and Michael Bowers was incredibly professional, personable and efficient. I felt completely comfortable with him in my home and appreciated the communication before during and after the inspection was completed.

Marc and Brandon did an excellent job as usual. They really work well together as a team, and they are friendly and informative to the resident. We will definitely work with innovative basement again in the future! And Logan did an excellent job promptly coming out, giving us estimates, and furnishing certificates of liability insurance right away. A very good experience all the way around!

Dustin R. (Foreman), Dustin B. and not Dustin- Kieren N. were tasked with coming to KY and putting multiple jacks and push piers on our house that has had a few additions in its 178 years. They were beyond professional, calling each morning to let us know they were on the way, keeping us apprised of any and all changes. The area for the jacks had to be dug by hand with limited clearance between the ground and joists. The 2nd day they worked in the snow and slush outdoors, in freezing temps hand digging overly saturated ground and muck. The last day was warmer with rain and water had to be pumped out to complete the job. Through all of this they laughed and joked, were cordial and respectful. The front part no longer has spongy spots and some gaps have closed or are much smaller. The work in the back part has us confident the house won't sink and fall apart. Great crew did a great job!!!!!

The team that worked on our basement were awesome!! The job was scheduled for 4 day but they got it done in 2! The quality of work looks excellent. They left the work site neat and tidy! We were very pleased with his professionalism and quote, and even though we're not deciding to have the work done at this time because of expense, we would definitely recommend Grant to anyone looking to have major basement renovation done in the Bismarck or Sioux Falls area.

We had our garage floor leveled and cracks filled and a basement wall waterproofed (gutter system with pump and wall seal) in Minneapolis in 2024. Both projects were done by people who take pride in their work and strive for the best outcome. Our garage floor was in sad shape, and Andrew spent extra time to get it as level as could be and filled the many cracks thoroughly. One side of the garage went up 4 inches to make it level again. As for our basement, Jeremiah T, Dion R, and Jaden R did a great job installing the gutter system under the floor with the pump, drainage, and wall seal membrane that went with it.

Great company, great team. From bid process with Brian to execution with Mark and Brandon everyone did exactly what they promised when they promised. I couldn't be more pleased with the final result. My patio no longer drains to the foundation but away as it should even in the heaviest rain. Would use these guys again in a heartbeat! Thanks!

I requested information and a quote to repair water damage and seal cracks in my basement. Nathan was well informed about services and products to repair damage to the existing walls and floor. He showed me videos and explained the different options available. Nathan did a great job. I appreciate his time and knowledge as a field inspector.

I had some bowing and cracking in my cinder block basement wall and Groundworks mitigated the issue by adding vertical bracing to the affected wall. I also had water leaking in which was caused mold issues so they also installed a new drainage system in the basement and sealed the walls to prevent water coming in. This treatment provided stability to prevent further movement. The braces were also adjustable to allow for further corrections which were included in the original work. Today, Michael Bowers came out to provide that follow up annual inspection and maintenance. He thoroughly tested the new drainage system they installed and took measurements to baseline whether the walls were stable. Michael explained everything to me and noted some other areas we should keep an eye on without trying to upsell me which I appreciated. He was friendly and thorough. I would recommend using Groundworks and give Michael a high review rating.

Drain Tile and Sump Pump installation. From start to finish the service was excellent. David inspected our house, discussed what was needed, walked us through the estimate. David was consistently available for questions prior to the installation. Austin F., Dakota M. And Billy B. Were the installers. They were on time and communicated everything they were doing. They were polite, approachable, and clearly knowledgeable about the process. The installation looks great and the site was completely clean when they were done. I would highly recommend Groundwork’s and these staff for any work you need.
