Waterproofed Basement...Williston, ND

Monday, February 25th, 2013 by Bradan Bach

This project started when the homeowners noticed water leaking into the south side of their home, damaging two finished basement bedrooms. The water had been leaking in every spring for the past few years. They also had some ridges and flaking in the concrete slab in a few areas of their basement floor. The homeowners tried a few different repairs on their outside of their home, adding soil to build up the grade next to the foundation and installing new gutters, but the water continued to leak in where the wall meets the floor on the south side of their home.

To fix the basement moisture problem, Innovative Basement Authority proposed the installation of a partial BasementGutter drainage system. Innovative also proposed refinishing the lower portion of their finished ball by installing the Wall Restoration System. Refinishing the lower half of the wall helped the homeowners in a few different ways. First, the existing wall was a little moldy and was causing a musty smell in the basement. Second, finishing contractors are difficult to find in the Williston area. By having Innovative Basement Authority finish the walls, the homeowners were able to get rid of their moldy walls and musty odor and have their entire project done in less than a week by one contractor.

Innovative Basement Authority arrived and began taking down the damaged lower half of the basement walls. The crew then installed a SafeDri ProX and approximately 50 feet of BasementGutter.  After the BasementGutter installation was complete, they installed the Half Wall Restoration System. These finished panels are water-resistant and guaranteed not to mold or mildew for 50 years. IBS uses a chair rail and composite baseboard to make the transition between the sheet rock and the wall panels seamless and beautiful!

To address the issue with the concrete slab, Innovative Basement Authority removed the areas of concrete that were flaking and heaving and repoured new concrete flush with the existing floor. The crew removed and repoured approximately 400 square feet of concrete by hand with little disruption to the homeowners' busy lifestyle. They were very happy that Innovative Basement Authority' production crew worked so efficiently and were able to complete the project in less than one week.
