Homeowner contacted Innovative Basement Authority due to water coming up into the basement through an under slab duct system; home had one exterior sump, one interior sump, and existing drain-tile. Homeowner had experienced no other water issues in the home. The homeowner was, at the time of inspection, sucking out approximately 20 gallons of water per day from a register.
Upon a thorough inspection, Innovative Basement Authority determined that the problem was more severe than initially thought; not only was water coming up from the register the homeowner had been dealing with, both standing water and evidence of past moisture entry was discovered in all other remaining portions of the ductwork in the basement. Ben determined the most effective solution would be to abandon the comprised ductwork. In order to abandon the leaking ductwork, the basement registers would be cemented over, a SafeDri ProX and SafeDri Battery Back-Up would then be installed at the location where the ducting entered the basement slab. This solution allows the abandoned ducting to act as drain-tile underneath the slab, which would then empty to the installed SafeDri ProX to be pumped to the homes exterior. In addition to solving the homeowner’s problem, she was able to also have the peace of mind that the system would function even during periods of power loss or pump failure by way of the installed SafeDri Battery Back-up.
With the water issues solved, Jan was able to have a licensed HVAC technician reroute the basement duct work above the basement ceiling, and out of the damp soils beneath the home.
