Question from Mary in Forest Lake, MN:
Have you seen more water issues in older or newer homes?
Answer from Keith Hanson, Sales Specialist:
I have seen water issues in both. Water can get into your home in many ways, and it does not matter if it’s old or new construction. There are three ways that water can get into your basement: first, the hydrostatic pressure of the water table can push up and come through cracks in the floor or where the floor meets the wall; second, the water can come through a crack in the foundation wall; and third, is the water can push in. What we mean is push over your footings and under your foundation wall, where it will come up at the seam where the floor meets the wall. Even with new homes with exterior drain tile systems, there can be problems. Unfortunately by the time you find out about the issue it’s too late.
