Are you ready for the thawing ground, melting snow and rising temps? Although these all sound great, they might not be so great for your basement. Spring showers are right around the corner which means your wet basement is coming back. Take precautions now so you can enjoy the warm weather ahead.
Fix the grade around your home. When the dirt around your home’s foundation is sloping downward towards your home, water is more likely to leak into your basement. To prevent this, simply fix the grade around your home to make the soil slope away from your foundation.
Clean those gutters. This might be a no brainer to some, but a helpful reminder can save you and your home from a flooded mess.
Don’t forget about annual maintenance. If you already have a waterproofing system in your home, don’t forget about the annual maintenance. Have your sump pump and drainage system checked for clogs and imperfections. It’s better to be aware of a possible issue before the wet season, compared to during!
