More and more often we are thinking of ways to save energy and money. One thing we don’t think about is the source to our energy wasting. We all leave an occasional light on but what I’m talking about goes far beyond our light habits. One of the biggest energy wasting qualities a home can possess is not having proper insulation. Perhaps the two most important areas aren’t even the livable areas. These two areas are the crawlspace and/or basement and the attic.
These two areas are important for similar ways. For starters, they are both key components of the “stack effect.” Outside air enters your home through the crawlspace/basement which pushes out conditioned air through the attic. By keeping the attic and crawlspace/basement well insulated, your home keeps the air you pay to condition inside. Thus, saving you money and energy.
